A Checkup for Daddy

Cheyenne smiled. "I'm making chicken tenders and tater tots," Cheyenne said.

"Yes! We love that don't we Destiny?"

Destiny nodded.

Adam laughed and sat on a stool with Destiny on his lap. "I'm all better now."

"Good," Cheyenne smiled, pouring a glass of apple juice in Destiny's favorite cup and sliding it down the counter top.

Adam caught it and handed it to Destiny.

"Thank you," Destiny said.

"Your welcome." Adam said as he started going through the mail. He saw an issue off Power Block with Rai on the cover. "Looks like Rai did an interview and photoshoot."

Cheyenne nodded. "I got a letter from the District Attorney's office today," Cheyenne said.

"About?" Adam asked as he flipped to where Rai's interview was.

An ice like glare settled in Cheyenne's eyes. "They let the guy that killed my brother out of prison yesterday," Cheyenne nearly growled in anger.

Adam looked up. "Why?" He asked in confusion.

"Good behavior," Cheyenne air quoted. "Somebody's got to tell Jeff and Cailynn."

"Why don't you handle that one cause I don't need to be in hitting range."

"Addy, come on you know I can't do it alone," Cheyenne said. "Who's gonna hold me when I start crying if you're not there?"

"Ok I'll be there but I will hit Jeff back if he decides to swing at me for some reason."

"He'll be too busy holding Cailynn to swing at you," Cheyenne said. "Are you forgetting she was in the car when my brother died?"

"No but Jeff can multitask." Adam said as he sat Destiny on the seat then pulled Cheyenne to him.

"I just can't believe my brother's killer is free," Cheyenne said.

"Me either baby."

"He almost killed Cailynn, she could've lost Hailey and he pretty much got away with it," Cheyenne said.

"I know baby it's not fair."

"Damn right it's not fair!" Cheyenne said.

Adam held her close. "I know baby I know."

Cheyenne started to cry.
